Because chips cannot sustain a gal...

Needless to say after a weekend of chip bingeing I could use a little diet TLC. That being said I thought I'd post this quick website.

www.youbars.com This website allows you to customize your own nutrition bars. You get to choose the flavors, protein, and added vitamin benefits. If its all too confusing what flavors to choose with what they have a guide for favorite combinations. As a person who subsisted off of cliff/protein bars for years I absolutely love the idea of choosing what goes into my bars.

Stressed!!!

End of the semester usually just means one thing: stress! As I sit here typing I am strongly reminded that I should by writing my 6 page paper for my Theatre class (yes I'm in a theatre class!). Needless to say I just had to write a few things that were catching my eye online, in print, on TV, and life in general

  • Bravo TV: The station that brough us Project Runway has caught my attention again for bringing addictive reality TV right to my living room. I suppose the appeal happend when the writers strike took place and I was forced to drift beyond my average 10 channel range to find something new...and boy am I glad I did. I absolutely adore The Real Housewives of New York City. There is something about watching rich society women be catty over seemingly trivial matters that has me hooked. Also on my radar is Millionaire Matchmaker where TV crews chronicle this match making service speficially for millionaires. Its a guilt pleasure but exactly what I need on some days check them out at www.bravotv.com
  • Most people who know me know I absolutely adore jewerly needless to say I absolutely adore Disney Couture and am desperately coveting a bracelet that Kidada Jones designed or the line. Check it out at www.karmaloop.com Its the Tinkerbell suede wrap bracelet. You can take the girl out of Disney but you can't take the Disney out of the girl!
  • Spring is upon us so I find myself looking for a new fragrance to lighten up the mood. The one on my radar is Burberry's The Beat. I admit I was initally drawn by the use of one of my fav models Agyness Deyn as the model for the new fragrance but upon my first sniff I was instantly drawn. I had not been the biggest fan of the other Burberry fragrances, but this one is light and fun perfect for Spring '08. Check it out at www.burberry.com or www.sephora.com

Well needless to say I should be getting back to atually doing work but I thought I'd end this post by sounding off with Mariah Carey's video "Touch my Body." I have heard all the arguements about this girl and her seemingly idealic vision of world. That's she's a grown woman who continues to live in a fantasy world filled with butterflies and Hello Kitty. But you can't deny her musical talent or drive. I picked up the April issue of Allure and found myself face to face with the woman whose CDs I had on constant rotation as an adolescent. I hope everyone has had a great weekend and a great start to the new month!

Odd...

In general I find myself drawn to odd and unusual things. I am not quite sure if it is my upbrining (as my mother is somewhat the same way) or my fascination with things that are considered "weird," as I was always (and continue to be) called that. But as I sit here at two in the morning after having read a mini-biography on the playwrite/director/actor Antonin Artaud (who is by far one of the weirdest writers I have ever read - if you don't believe me try reading Spurt of Blood-) I thought I would mention another thing that has registered on my list of pretty odd stuff:

Coming across a blog post on writer Neil Gaiman's site I noticed he mentioned a type of coffee I had never head of called kopi luwak. Being somewhat interested in the consumption of different drinks (my last being the legalization of absinthe in America) I decided to look it up. Apparently this coffee has been processed by going through the digestive system of an animal and then is collected afterward for consumption in the form of a nice brew. Don't believe me? Check it out on www.animalcoffee.com I kid you not. That being said I will resume back to reading about Artaud before crashing in a state of absolute bliss to reruns of Grey's Anatomy...here is to wishing you all a night as equally ordinary as weird.

My newest crush...

After seeing The Other Boelyn Girl a few weeks ago, I walked out of the theatre feeling like I had just run the Boston marathon. That being said I did have a new crush on Jim Sturgess, an actor who is best known for his performance in Across the Universe (which I might just have to rent now!) With his boyishly good looks and English accent he may soon take over my DVD collection of must sees for a bit. I jumped on the band wagon with this actor crush a bit late as a quick google search reveals many websites of devotion. Needless to say I will definitely be in line for his next flick, 21. A movie based on the Las Vegas scam by a group of MIT kids based on the book "Bringing Down the House" by Ben Mezrich. As a Boston gal I know plenty of the legendary card counting group, but if you have no clue what I'm talking about I highly suggest looking up the history as it is quite interesting (as a side note in case you plan on gambling a bit card counting is illegal!) But to tide you over here is the trailer for 21:

Because I absolutely adore food...

While I am definately not a big girl I love my food. Every year me and my friends vow to try different restaurants and different kinds of food in the Boston/Cambridge area. One place that has definitely made it on my must eat list is Mela. An Indian retaurant on Tremont Street, which has fantastic food and a wonderful atmosphere. Check it out at www.melaboston.com

Another place that's great for a quick bit and isn't the typical fare is Symphony Sushi (symphonysushi.com) Its good sushi at college student prices.

Other food news in the Boston area worth mentioning:

Strong Women Strong Girls is a great national organization which helps to empower the younger generation of women (www.swsg.org). They are having a fundraiser at the UNOs on Huntington Ave in Boston. Check it out!

Currently the Tap Project is going on in Boston (March 16-22). Clean water is something that many of us take for granted and too few in the world have. The Tap Project is working with UNICEF for cleaner water and in Boston between March 16-22 (March 22 being the UN's official World Water Day) at participating Boston restaurants you can purchase a glass of tap water for $1, which will be donated to the project. (www.tapproject.org)

I hope everyone has a great St. Patty's Day!

I know its cliche

I usually can't stand when people put lyrics in blogs...but these lyrics deserve a post of their own. I was watching WE tv's new show High School Confidential and it was the title song of the series. I absolutely love the lyrics, check them out!

Imperfection by Saving Jane
My hair's a wreck
Mascara runs
My feet get dirty
And my skin burns in the sun.
My lips they bleed
But I still sing my songs.
Takes me a minute
To admit it when I'm wrong.

Pretty is as pretty does,
But pretty's not my thing.

This is what you get.
This is who I am.
Take me now or leave me
Any way you can.
Sometimes I trip and fall
But I know where I stand.
If you're thinking bout a change in my direction,
Don't mess with imperfection.

My back is weak,
But my will is true.
Got good intentions
But I never follow through.
I say too much,
And don't know when to leave.
In case you're looking,
That's my heart there on my sleeve.

Ego trips and stupid slip ups,
I'm a mess but

This is what you get.
This is who I am.
Take me now or leave me
Any way you can.
Sometimes I trip and fall
But I know where I stand.I
f you're thinking bout a change in my direction,
Don't mess with imperfection.

Scratched and bruised,
A little used,
But baby I work fine.
You might call me
Damaged goods,
But I'm one of a kind.

My hair's a wreck,
No I'm not perfect
But I'm not the only one.

This is what you get.
This is who I am.
Take me now or leave me
Any way you can.
Sometimes I trip and fall
But I know where I stand.
If you're thinking bout a change in my direction,
Don't mess with imperfection.
This is who I am.
If you're thinking bout a change my direction,
Don't mess with imperfection.

I can't wait!

81 days till the Sex and the City movie comes to theatres! I absolutely cannot wait to see my 4 favorite New Yorkers make their big screen debutes. Already there have been two trailers, a kickass website (www.sexandthecitymovie.com), plenty of photo fashion leaks, and tons of gossip of on the set difficulties with the stars. The girly side of me is absolutely shreaking with delight at the possibility of seeing a conclusion to the Carrie/Mr. Big wedding aka a wedding and also at seeing all the fashion! I guess the trailers will just have to subsist me for awhile. Enjoy!

Pics from Florida!

Just some pics from the Florida trip I took for Spring Break...enjoy!

Because a good quote can be worth more than a whole conversation...

I love a good quote. Those closest to me know this. I am also a huge movie fan, so you can image the quotes that I garner from films. As I type this up I am currently watching a fav movie of mine "Working Girl." It is a great graveyard full of great quotes (I call it as such, as in my opinion it is not quoted enough). Here are a few of my favorites as I just can't help how quotable this movie is:

"I have a head for business and a bod for sin" - Tess

"I am not steak. You can't just order me" - Tess

"Sometimes I sing and dance around the house in my underwear. Doesn't make me Madonna. Never will" - Cynthia

Hope everyone has a great lazy Sunday, despite having to "Spring ahead!"

Because I am such a geek!

While I am a strong believer in writing a post per day I also believe that continuity counts. So in lew of a new year and a new blog I propose to type my thoughts as they flow. And in the case of this chronic ADD mind of mind, that would be often.

This one is based solely on the fact that one of my fav author's new books is soon to be coming out and I felt that anyone who chances upon this blog should check it out. Neil Gaiman has written many books and graphic novels (many of which have been turned into full length movies!) His newest book "The Graveyard Book" will be out this year and I can't wait. Check out his website at www.neilgaiman.com. Gaiman has a fantastic website and blog, which includes his thoughts on the writing process.

To add to that I stumbled across a link in Gaiman's website that I just had to click on: Free Comic Book Day (www.freecomicbookday.com) the title pretty much speaks for itself and is definitely worth checking out!

Back into the Rain...

Nothing beats coming home from a sunny vacation only to be greeted by freezing rain upon stepping off the plane. Talk about a rude wake up call. Needless to say I am sure upon waking up tomorrow I will realize that the vacation is over and that come Monday morning I must once again set my alarm clock early and be prepared for a long week of work. That being said I hope to prolong the feeling of vacation as long as possible. Thus I will be spreading out my blogs on my vacation week this week as to slowly wean myself off the "Floridian high" I experienced while on vacation. I will be uploading pictures of the vacation shortly and in the world of non-existing procrastination I will hopefully be putting them into a scrapbook as well. Hope everyone had a great week!

Quickie

Just a quick hi before I jet off on my Jetblue flight to Flordia for the week. I hope everyone is having a great weekend so far. I just thought I'd throw a few "quickies" out there about things that have made it on my radar.

So I stumbled across this linked in www.fabsugar.com its about Victoria Secret so it caught my attention. Apparently even Victoria Secret found itself being "too sexy" so they are re-vamping the stores for this upcoming year. I personally can't wait till they get away from the more teeny-bopper look of the Pink line. Check out The Wallstreet Journal article here:( http://online.wsj.com/article/SB120421181615799917.html )

Another web browsing caught my attention to the fact that starting 4/21 five (count the FIVE!) new episodes of Gossip Girl will be airing. I am completely obsessed with this show. The story lines, the fashion, the makeup, the high school drama, etc. If you haven't seen this show yet you still have time before the new episodes air check it out on itunes or at www.cwtv.com/shows/gossipgirl

Last but not least it has come to my attention that Target has decided that Jovovich-Hawk will be its tenth GO International Designer. This makes me fantastically happy as its past choices have not always impressed this somewhat picky fashion lover. The line is launched March 2, 2008 and I can't wait! (www.target.com, www.jovovich-hawk.com)

I hope everyone has a great week ahead!
