Bullied - The Boston Globe

I came across this article while surfing The Boston Globe online. It really resonated with me. The article concerns an 11 year old boy who had been bullied and ended his life. The boy's mother wants to get the word out that the situation at school could have been handled differently.

The article also quoted a few statistics, the scariest among them was this:
"Nationwide, suicide rates among 10- to 14-year-olds have grown more than 50 percent over the last three decades, according to the American Association of Suicidology, or the AAS. In 2005, the last year nationwide statistics were available, 270 children in that age group killed themselves. Suicide remains among the leading causes of death of children under 14. And in most cases, the young people die from hanging."

If anything can be taken from this tragedy is that we aren't doing enough to help the youth of America who is being bullied, feels alone without help, or feels that suicide is the only way out.
